Message from the Headteacher

Eggar’s is a very popular Science College and Training School, which has rightfully earned its high standing and fine reputation in Alton and in Hampshire as a whole. It is a secondary college that distinguishes itself by providing a rich range of learning opportunities within a happy, safe and welcoming environment.

We pride ourselves on high standards and on getting the best out of everyone who studies and works in and for the school. Expectations are high, but this is coupled with a caring and supportive ethos which enables students to be aspirational, then to achieve and celebrate their ambitions and achievements and to be given a helping hand when necessary. We are proud of our specialist status but also of being a genuinely comprehensive school in which everyone has the opportunity to achieve or even exceed their personal potential. By looking after each individual, the success of the school as a whole largely looks after itself. As a result, together we share a dynamic and thriving learning community, with many dimensions and innumerable qualities.

No pupils at Eggar’s are or have been infected with Swine Flu.  We are taking actions to reduce the chance of any infection: such as making sure surfaces are wiped clean every afternoon and monitoring our pupils for any flu-like symptoms.  The Health Protection Agency have issued a Leaflet regarding swine flu in schools.

Eggar’s school was inspected by Ofsted on April 29th 2009.  We would like to thank our pupils for their behaviour during the inspection, which was excellent as always.
