In order to discharge our duties more effectively we have a number of committees. The committees meet between full governing body meetings to investigate and discuss a wide variety of matters and where powers are delegated to make decisions. They report to the full governing body and decisions taken and make recommendations on other matters. Minutes of committee meetings are sent to all governors.
Whole Governing Body
At least two meetings per term, plus a meeting at the beginning of the autumn term to set up committees and elect officials. There is an annual training meeting.
Committees
Finance & Personnel (F&P) and Curriculum & Environment (C&E)
These committees usually meet twice a term, about 3 weeks before the full governing body meeting.
Pupil Discipline Committee (PDC), Staff Dismissal Committee, Appeals Committee
These committees meet whenever the need arises.
Pay Review Committee
Meets at least once a year to set and review targets for the headteacher, making recommendations for salary increases.
General Information
Each committee has Terms of Reference and delegated powers agreed by the
Full Governing Body and reviewed annually.
Good practice adopted by all committees:
- Meetings normally clerked by the Clerk to the Governing Body
- Agenda setting
- Circulation of papers and minutes usually 7 days before meeting
- Annual programme of tasks
- Minutes with identified action points and person responsible for action
