Welcome to edition 3 of our eNewsletter. This is a small round-up edition just to let you know whats happening the first week back after the Spring Break and to let you know about a couple of new developments we’ve been working on. There will be a number of changes happening to the website over the Spring Break and we encourage you to logon to http://www.eggars.net once term resumes to access year group and subject specific information.

Wishing you an enjoyable Spring Break,
Mr Serridge (Deputy Headteacher) and Mr Harris (Business and Network Manager)

Letters home

School to home communication has always been an area of constant development. Your comments and feedback has helped us focus our attention on the bits that really needed improving, for instance the letters your child is given to take home. We’ve been listening when you’ve told us you don’t always receive these letters and know that can mean you miss out on our concerts and parents evenings.

Last week we began sending letters out both with pupils and electronically using the Schoolcomms service. We are still ironing out the way we get the letters into Schoolcomms to send to you and so we will continue to send the letters out by hand for the time being. Eventually we hope to have all correspondence sent electronically and would value your comments about the idea.

To ensure you know the messages are from the school, and to allow you to quickly filter through your other emails we have decided to ‘tag’ our messages. You will notice this message begins with the subject line [Eggar's] which is the ‘tag’ we will be using. The tag will help you quickly spot messages from the school and allows you to create email rules should you want to.

Internet Safety Information Evening

We have posted a survey on the school website asking if you would be interested in an Internet Safety Information Evening. Please let us know what you think about such an event. We believe the Internet is a powerful learning resource, but only if used safely. The results of the poll will help us plan our resources and, if necessary, let us know if an evening with invited experts and advisors would be beneficial.

Spring Break

The Spring Break/Late Easter Holiday is now upon us and will last until the 20th April with an Inset day for staff on Monday 21st April. During this time we recommend Year 11 pupils really focus on the work their subject teachers have identified as needing to be finished. We also recommend they make use of the resources on the OLC and SAMLearning. Some of the subject teachers are running work sessions over the holiday, further details can be found on the website as Spring Break Work Sessions.

Year 8 Project Homework

The slides from the Year 8 Project homework sessions have now been published online in case you were unable to attend the event. More details will be released through subject teachers as required by the pupils.
